Bay area thrash outfit Hatchet are streaming Living in Extinction, the second track from their upcoming full length Fear Beyond Lunacy, due out on October 30th via The End Records/ADA.
Hatchet vocalist and lead guitarist Julz Ramos had this to say about the track:
“…I got the lyrical inspiration for this song after seeing a movie called ‘The Chernobyl Diaries’. I became really fascinated by the scenery of the abandoned city of Pripyat and, of course, the Chernobyl plant itself. Something about an entire city just left to rot gives a very eerie, but undeniable sense of awe. I kept looking at pictures of it and just reading about what happened there and how quickly it was abandoned, it seemed like it would make a cool song. Just imagining being asleep in your bed and wakened by nuclear sirens, gas masked military soldiers banging on your door instructing you to leave everything behind, and that chaos all around just screamed thrash song to me! Hahaha. I especially like the way the chorus chant came out as it calls to the date of the disaster.”
