Micko & The Mellotronics Announce ‘½ Dove – ½ Pigeon’ Album

Micko And The Mellotronics have confirmed they will release their debut album “½ Dove – ½ Pigeon” on the 27th November 2020 via Landline Records. Teasing the release, the band have revealed ‘Imelda’, a brand new cut from the record that’s inspired by the extraordinary story of Filipino politician Imelda Marcos. A longstanding favorite in the Mellotronics live set, ‘Imelda‘ is a feverish and frenzied thrillride of pinpoint polito-punk; a track that ricochets through it’s three-and-a-half minutes with a Buzzcocks-meets-XTC fury. Featuring Fripp-esque guitar flourishes courtesy of full-time Mellotronics axeman Jon Klein (Siouxsie And The Banshees) and guest vocalist Keiko Yamazaki also raises the pitch, and the lunacy, with a remarkable appearance on the chorus. You can pre-order “½ Dove – ½ Pigeon” here and stream ‘Imelda‘ below

I wanted the music to take the shape of a punky love song, as if Imelda was being desired from afar, I’m sure many will have fallen for that trap as a result of her glamour & extravagant lifestyle, only to discover her true nature layer by layer… In the current climate of US politics, Imelda Marcos was ahead of her time. I found her to be highly manipulative, deceptive & prepared to go to any length to succeed in her endeavors, however far fetched they may seem. Imelda Marcos demonstrates that power, money, fame & influence are not the prerequisites to greater happiness.
