Rufio Mark Their 25th Anniversary With Re-Recorded “Dipshit” & New EP “From The Outside”

Twenty-five years after the release of their beloved debut album, Perhaps, I Suppose…, Southern California pop-punk pioneers Rufio are celebrating the milestone with a newly re-recorded version of the fan favorite, Dipshit, that is available via Double Helix Records and Double Felix Records. Originally appearing on Perhaps, I Suppose…, which was released in 2001, Dipshit helped introduce Rufio‘s signature blend of lightning-fast technical guitar work, soaring melodies, and infectious hooks. Now, exactly 25 years later, the band has revisited the track with a fresh recording that bridges the gap between Rufio’s past and present while honoring one of the songs that helped define an era of melodic punk. The release also serves as a taste of bigger and better things to come. Rufio‘s brand-new EP, From The Outside, will be released on August 7th, the EP is a five-song collection that marks the band’s first new music in 16 years and finds longtime members Scott Sellers, Clark Domae, and Taylor Albaugh creating together again on their own terms.

“This EP was something fun to do with the dudes. We just wanted to make something that we are proud of and had fun doing. I’m at a weird point where I don’t really care what anyone else thinks right now. For me it was all about making something with the guys. We are old as hell now, so it’s not often we get to hang. So just being a bit more involved in each other’s lives felt really fucking good for me. For the first time, there was no pressure to write a ‘hit’ and there was no pressure of trying to write according to the direction of the scene, not that it ever mattered to us. We are Rufio, still the same old techy pop-punk band. But we wrote songs for us, and I think if you like Rufio, you will like this too. But if you don’t, that’s fine, too.
