British Columbia trio The July Crowd have unveiled their new EP, The Way That I Felt Last Year, that is now available through streaming platforms via Manic Kat Records. The EP merges a sharp hybrid of driving guitars and emotive lyricism, it nods to their pop-punk roots while showcasing their growth and sonic evolution. The new tracks pull on the heartstrings, exploring the stages of grief, losing a loved one and overcoming a broken home. Indeed, The Way That I Felt Last Year is a deeply personal but perennially relatable offering from a band with much to say, even when the subject matter can be uncomfortable. The band have graduated from the infectious pop punk anthems of their previous cycles to a sound rich in heart and sonically resonating. The Way That I Felt Last Year is a collection that innately takes the listener back to the 2010’s, whilst bottling a fresh and progressive take on modern alternative.

“This new EP is a reflection of some of the hardest times I’ve ever experienced in my life. Loss, grief, and learning how to cope are all present and very trying themes. Truthfully though, it feels great to write about real experiences. I hope to connect with people in a meaningful way through this record. We made this EP for people working through real human emotions.” (lead vocalist Dom Walters)
