Weezer To Go Independent, Release New Album In September
In a recent interview with NewsTimes.com, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer announced that they have finished recording an as-yet-untitled album that will be released on September 13th. The record will be released on an independent record label and will be the first released not on Geffen Records since their 1994 breakout album, The Blue Album.
“I’ve spent the entire morning trying to come up with a name for the record. How does `Heavy Mental’ sound? There’s definitely going to be more raw rock energy on this one.”
Weezer released Raditude last year and it was the last release with Geffen. They will be headlining Edmonton’s Sonic Boom Festival on September 4th, 2010.
