Amy Angel And The HellRaisers

Do It Again - Die Laughing Records

Back at the dawn of the US punk scene Don Lamb (Donny Midnite) and Tony Lourenco (Tony Sinsinatty) formed The Street Punks, whilst the band might not have laid down their marker in punk folklore, the duo remained friends. Over forty years after they formed their first band they came together again and started working on new material, Tony’s wife, Amy Angel, swiftly took on lead vocals, with the remaining line up shifting before settling on Danny Dangerous on drums and Osgood Cain III (The Honey Wilders) on bass. They emerged as Amy Angel And The HellRaisers and initially started recording at Amy and Tony’s Bay area home during the summer of 2017.

Walking In The City‘ kicks off “Do It Again” with a track that blends west coast psyche with a country twang, perhaps not the introduction you were expecting given the punk pedigree that lies at the heart of the band, just as you start to mellow out ‘Who’s That Girl?‘ hits you with a blast of revved up rock ‘n roll to keep you guessing. “Do It Again” continues to throw curveballs at you, from the country of ‘Yesterday’s High‘, ‘Lite One Up‘, ‘Party Night Across The USA‘ and ‘Never Too Late‘ through the dirty rock ‘n roll of ‘She Likes It Fast‘ to the sultry ‘White Witch‘, but it’s tracks like the punk rock of ‘I’d Do It Again‘ and the power pop of ‘That Punk Rockers Me’ where their roots are showing.

Do It Again” is at it’s heart a country album, but there are an energetic touches of punk, and psychobilly that means that this is an album that drops you right in the heart of cow punk country. As at least half of the album has more than a touch of country twang, this is a factor that will greatly influence whether “Do It Again” is for you, but it must be said that the album’s more energetic moments still hit the spot. “Do It Again” has been released 43 years after Donny Midnite and Tony Sinsinatty supported the original line up off The Damned on their first US tour, and this album is proof that they are still keeping the faith.
