The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs

One More Drink - Dead Beat Records

L.A. punk rock ‘n’ roll vigilantes The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs returned with their latest full length “One More Drink“, their first in nearly two decades, earlier this month via Dead Beat Records. The band have always worn their influences prominently on their collective sleeves, the band name alone should tell you what they sound like, alongside The Stooges they channel the likes of The Runaways, MC5, New York Dolls and The Dead Boys. It’s a timely return as the late 70’s NYC and Detroit proto punk and punk scenes have recently being undergoing something of a resurgence with bands such as Brandy And The Butcher and The Carvels NYC on the same path that The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs started down almost three decades ago.

One More Drink“ follows on from their critically acclaimed full length “Waiting For The Death Of My Generation” that was released back in 2001 with only reissues, compilations of rarities, a live album and 2014’s ‘Escape From New York City’ single punctuating the silence. The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs still contain three founding members, Frank Meyer (vocals, guitar), Dino Everett (bass) and Mike Sessa (drums), so this is no resurrection of a name with a sole original member present, of course expecting any self respecting punk band to keep it’s original line up intact for almost three decades isn’t realistic and they are joined by guitarist Bruce Duff (Jesters of Destiny, 45 Grave, Jeff Dahl) and sax player Geoff Yeaton

Whilst 2021 has seen much of what we love shorn from us The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs are proving that you can’t keep a good band down, and they’ve not come alone, “One More Drink“ also features guest appearances from John Easedale (Dramarama), Rikk Agnew (Adolescents) and Paul Roessler (The Screamers) to seal the deal on an impressive return. Now more than ever we all need something that we can depend on and somewhat unexpectedly The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs have become exactly that, their influences haven’t changed and they have kept true to their roots, “One More Drink“ is an album of glammy, trashy, sleazy, punk rock ‘n fucking roll with a heart full of napalm.
