Flat Earth Society

Flat Earth Society - Scorpion Records

Flat Earth Society have recently re-released their debut self-titled CD on Scorpion Records with an additional song (Know More) for their growing fan base. The extra song knocks to album up to 8 middle of the road punk rock songs. Not too fast, not too slow, just the right speed to get you tapping your feet.

A close comparison to the band would be that of Pennywise. Both bands play solid punk rock tunes. Catchy vocals while not turning to the poppy side of things. Also, instead of singing about girls and sex and those sort of things; FES takes a stand up and sings slightly more politically (also like Pennywise). Lyrics like “But the corporate giants can still make me believe, they say the earth can surly heal itself, while they line their pockets with tons of wealth” and “Well you should know more about your choices, and speak for all those who have no voices” stops you in your tracks and makes you think a bit. Not to worry though. They still know how to rock and won’t force you to think to hard. Slowing the pace down, FES does a nice little cover song, Teenager In Love. A little more poppy then the other tracks on the album, it gives us a nice little breather.

If you are a fan of Pennywise and would like a nice short, 20 minute album to listen to in-between The Land Of The Free? and From The Ashes, then you should definitely pick up Flat Earth Society‘s debut album.
