We're Down Till We're Underground - Equal Vision Records
Give Up The Ghost are back with their second Equal Vision Records release, We’re Down Till We’re Underground. The hard-core band has given it’s loyal fans 13 new tracks for them to enjoy, including 2 instrumentals.
Although I have never been a huge fan for most of the hard-core genre; G.U.T.G. have given me a album which I can not dislike. The vocals are the powerhouse of the band; they are at the screaming point for most of the time, but still never fully blurring out the lyrics. (Which means you can still make out what he’s saying). Wes Eisold’s vocal’s are always strong and has many different volumes and sounds. Bluem (Calumet Street Light People) have more melow vocals for the band. Don’t get me wrong, they are still very hard like most of the tracks and fits in perfectly; but they offer a slightly different sound then from the other tracks which gives you a slight break.
Of course, the musical melodies are also very strong. The two instruments (track 1- (It’s Something Like It Never Started) and track 13-(And It’s Sometimes Like It Will Never End)) show you just that. They are very captivating and both start and end the album perfectly. G.U.T.G also displays that talent in their other tracks; but as I said before; they are normally overpowered by the vocals.
We’re Down Till We’re Underground is a good hard-core album; even someone who isn’t a fan of that genre (like myself) will find it easy to listen to; although it won’t be one of their favorite albums. A fan of the genre will really enjoy the album.
