Breaking Britain - Self Released

Here we are, the follow up to December 2022’s brilliant album Welcome To The Freak Show, and LoGOz, as always, have a wave of fans waiting with baited breath to hear what the latest EP has to offer from one of the best live bands in North East, or maybe even the country. Breaking Britain is a four track look back and forward at the post covid Britain and how broken it is, how years of untamed Tory rule has divided and in some cases conquered the mind. Now its time to call this out and show that the fight is still there.

The title track ‘Breaking Britain’ is first up, and what stands out immediately is the sharper spikier sound from LoGOz here, the pop punk is still there, but it wears a much heavier mask, the anger and frustration is front and centre. ‘Suburban Times’ drops in next, this has a purposeful stomp to it with a riff that marches on throughout, the lyrics that feels as dark as our times are now reflecting a youth that has nowhere to go (how familiar does that sound to the older among us, Thatcher’s legacy is still being rained down via subsequent governments).

I said this was a much less lighted affair, but to be honest lyrically LoGOz have always erred towards the dark side, these tunes have also stepped things up a notch further, maybe more of a mosh pit sound. ‘Denialate’ serves this up in delicious and glorious manner, denial of the truth can drag us all down to the level of subservience without even knowing it. Finally ‘Introduction To Condemnation’ burns like a beacon of warning, don’t be given over to your fate, closing your eyes to all thats wrong around you. You might feel like something you have no choice in, but yes you do, this song ends an EP that is far too short, but 100% to the point and is a metaphorical depth-charge up the ass.

Breaking Britain is out now and you can find LoGOz on Bandcamp, Facebook & YouTube
