Lock-Sport-Krock - Burning Heart Records
Lock-Sport-Krock is Nikola Sarcevic‘s first ever solo album. Most of you may know the name thanks to his other band, Millencolin. Now, if you are a Millencolin fan and are planning to pick up this album because it is the same vocalist and you are expecting some great songs similar to that of Milliencolin, then you are picking up the album for the wrong reason and will be very disappointed. This solo album is a huge step away from what Millencolin normally does, and it is just simply a Nikola Sarvevic album. Which, is a good thing.
Lock-Sport-Krock is a blend of multiple musical styles like folk, country, and some old fashion rock and roll. All the influences are evident in the songs, making for a nice mixture of sounds and styles while never becoming too diverse that it is impossible to listen to. Nikola has obviously made friends over the year as he receives help from a whole lot of friends, and family, on the album. Including the Peepshows‘ Henke Wind, Bombshell Rocks‘ Tomas Falk, and The Soundtrack To Our Lives‘ Fredrik Sandsten. Nikola’s vocals are strong and melodic, very soothing.
Most of the songs are very slow and melodic, somewhat folksy and easy to sing a long with. He picks up a notch with songs like Glue Girl, Mirror Man, and New Fool, but only a small notch so it doesn’t throw the flow of the song off much. There is one major theme throughout the entire album, and that is definitely one of love. The lyrics are very personal, and are sometimes incredibly simple. But I, for one, feel that the simplicity if the lyrics are better and more direct, you instantly know what he is saying and don’t have to jump over walls to figure it out.
Nikola Sarcevic‘s debut solo album features some great songs on it. Fans of Millencolin may not like it, but everyone should still check it out because there are some good songs on it. I know I will listen to this CD quite a lot.
