Out Of Your Mouth

Draghdad - ViK Records

Out Of Your Mouth‘ debut album, Draghdad, is not a punk album. I’ll tell you that right now. It is, in fact, a rock album. This will push some of you away right away, while others will be attracted to it. But even in rock album standards, this is a somewhat weak release.

The album starts off with Kaboom, a medium paced, hard hitting song with somewhat simple lyrics that are slightly catchy (well the chorus is anyway), and you think “this could be pretty good”. Then comes Bla Bla Bla, another medium paced, hard hitting song with even simpler lyrics. Now your thinking “this is still good, but the same as before.” This happens throughout the album. It is good, but nothing different. There’s always a somewhat distorted guitar riff with heavy bass and drum melodies on it. The vocals are strong, sometimes rap-like, but blend into the music a bit too much. They don’t stand out or push any further then necessarily. Like I said, the lyrics are somewhat simple, so its pretty easy to find yourself singing along with it soon.

Draghdad isn’t anything special. Its a rock album where almost every song sounds the same. Sure, there is a distinct variation from one track to another, but that is due to the vocals only. Its basic make is the same on every track, and they never throw anything new at you. You may be able to listen to the CD over and over again, but that is just because there isn’t really anything that grabs you in anyway. It is just there. Each song is aggressive and in your face, but you soon find yourself looking behind it. And plus, the phone messages at the end which are supposed to be comical aren’t, they are just boring and annoying.
