Random Hero – Sundays With Bob

Random Hero‘s debut CD Sundays with Bob, reminds me a lot of The Proposal‘s recent EP Remember To Forget Me for a couple reason. First of all, they sound very similar: nice, laid back, pop-rock with catchy guitar riffs and all that jazz. But mainly because of the feel the album gives off. It’s the feel of forgetful familiarity. What does that mean exactly? Mainly that it’s a comfortable album, something familiar, something that you’ve heard before, but something that you’ll soon forget once the ten tracks come to an end.

Because sadly, Sundays With Bob isn’t that memorable. That’s not to say its bad, because it does have its shining moments with some great guitar riffs leading the way, but all together, Random Hero has nothing which really captures the listener’s attention. It starts, it plays and it ends without leaving much of an impact on anyone around. You’re never tempted to skip and never tempted to press repeat; instead Sundays With Bob is much more of an album to throw on in the background. Something to play when you need to concentrate on something entirely but don’t want dead quiet. That’s what Random Hero has given you.

There’s really not much to say about Sundays With Bob simply because its a fairly mediocre album. While its better than a fair few albums out there, it’s not one you’ll search out to listen to either. And for some people, that’s the worst type of album – an album which incites no real emotion. When it all comes down to it, Random Hero is just your generic pop-rock album with some slight promise splattered throughout.
