Paris Street Rebels

I Don't Wanna Die Young / Freakshow - Self Released

Paris Street Rebels take the best parts of the transatlantic punk explosion of the 1970’s and combine it with towering melodies and 21st century working class outrage. Informed and inspired by their own lives and the records that shaped them, the Paris Street Rebels are now set to release their debut single, a double A side release that features two tracks, I Don’t Wanna Die Young and Freakshow, that will be released across all major digital platforms on February the 15th.

First up is Freakshow, this is a perfect introduction to the band as it channels the spirit of the early recordings by The Clash combined with the indie cool of The Libertines, a driving bass line powers along an infectious guitar riff with lyrics that yearn for change. The flip side, I Don’t Wanna Die Young, shows the other side of their personality, a passionate track regarding hope overcoming suicide and it’s unwelcome place within rock ‘n roll history, the fire burns as bright as it’s counterpart on the A side but the delivery is done with a more layered and thoughtful, but no less impressive, approach.

The Paris Street Rebels have delivered a stunning debut single with both tracks managing to display an almost schizophrenic appeal such is the difference between the two tracks, crucially both carry the same spirit and show influences from incendiary vintage punk rock to the cool as fuck indie scene, with the whole package delivered with a strong DIY ethic. As with any good old fashioned two track single the Paris Street Rebels have left me simultaneously exhilarated and deflated, as I’m left wanting to hear from them, hopefully we won’t have too long to wait.

The Paris Street Rebels will be playing a release show for their new single at Glasgow’s The Priory on the 23rd February
