Today, Canadian metalcore band A Mourning Star have shared their new single, Would It Be Easier If My Flesh Tangled Through This Blade that is now available via streaming platforms and Bandcamp. The track stems from their debut album, A Reminder of the Wound Unhealed, that is due out on October 13th via DAZE Records. Drawing influence from acts like Poison The Well and 7 Angels 7 Plagues, the band is paying ode to old-school metalcore while bringing a new complexity to the sound. Would It Be Easier If My Flesh Tangled Through This Blade gleams with a mix of scream-sung vocals and melody driven guitars. A false ending leads into a crushing breakdown that is begging to be spinkicked to.

“I was inspired to write the lyrics to the single last year when I chopped off the tip of my finger making dinner. I went to the hospital and there wasn’t really shit they could do for me because I chopped the tip clean off , I couldn’t get stitches or anything. When I got back to my house the bloody scene was still on the counter and my fingertip was sitting there . The imagery was jarring and I just started writing shit down , but the song is basically a metaphor to me about the long process of personal healing and the frustrations that come with it “ (Vocalist Elijah Robinson)
