A False Glimmer Of Hope is the debut release by Botched Toe, an album that contains ten songs that clock in at just over 18 minutes. The catchy, pummelling riffs from Dan Flanagan (Haest / Knife Club / Matilda’s Scoundrels) provide the perfect backdrop to a bleak vocal narrative from James Domestic (The Domestics / PI$$ER / Tokyo Lungs) of a country in decay. Government corruption at an all-time high, those in power displaying ever-increasing contempt for the public; the ravages of unbridled capitalism and a poorly handled pandemic carving ever deeper scars into our individual and collective mental health.

Simple dreams now out of reach, and a populace so on edge and exhausted by it all that any significant, organised dissent seems less enticing than just retreating into one’s shell and hoping for the best (even when it’s clear that this is the most flawed tactic of all). The thundering, insistent, bass and drums of Marcus Green (Feral State / Hazard Profile / Kittie Shitter) and James Baughurst (Matilda’s Scoundrels) underpin it all and provide the turbine that powers the howling beast.

A False Glimmer of Hope will b e released on the 11th February and is now available for pre-order on black and limited pink vinyl, cassette and digital formats via Kibou Records, Forever Dead Records and Toxic Wotsit Records in the UK, Amok Records (Germany), Pike Records (Sweden) and No Time Records (USA).
