CynicsAs London’s Cynics are gear up to release their debut full length next month, the trio have announced that they will be changing their name to The Great Cynics.

After receiving threats from Pittsburgh garage band The Cynics, the band decided to forego legal action and push forward. In an interview with The 1st Five, frontman Giles Bidder explained the name change saying:

“It has the same meaning as the original name did, which is about people who sit back and tell you that you can’t do what you want to do whilst doing fuck all themselves.”

The band has previously released a 7″ EP titled Stones I’ve Thrown which will continue to reflect the original name until the vinyl is repressed. However, the forthcoming album, Don’t Need Much, will carry the new name. Due out June 14th, Don’t Need Much can be pre-ordered now through the Kind Of Like Records store and, for UK residents, Banquet Records is holding a pre-order including a copy of the record and a limited edition t-shirt.
