Dead To MeIn less than a week, the good dudes at AMP Magazine are hosting another studio blog update from punk group Dead To Me.  The band is currently recording their follow up to their polarizing 2009 sophomore full length, African Elephants, released by Fat Wreck Chords.  Their second entry:

“We’re approaching the end of the first week of recording here at Atlas Studios in Chicago and things are already shaping up quite nicely. We are done with rhythm guitars essentially and have already finished all the bass and drums. Sam finished a large chunk of lead guitars as well, so we will start singing soon for sure. This is historically right around the time I start second guessing my lyrics and melodies and have a miniature mental breakdown. The other dudes have assured me I will do great though and I really like what Matt has told me about his approach to recording vocals so I feel pretty good this time around.

Anyone that has ever made a record before will tell you that there is a lot of downtime in the studio. We’ve been spending most of ours by taking walks in the neighborhood, frequenting the Dunkin’ Donuts in the middle of the night, watching Cubs games, lurking at Whole Foods, and by crushing 30 packs of Busch Light with Matt and his handsome young engineer Justin Yates. Our buddy Toby from Red Scare came by and hung out the other day and took us to a great sandwich spot up the street, good times. All in all things are going great and I’m really enjoying the record making process this time for sure. The sounds are awesome so far and I cannot wait to share these songs with everybody out there.”

The update includes look at a rough copy of the band’s lyric sheets, including some song titles.  Check them out here.
