The New Catastrophes “Weather The Storm” On New Album
San Jose, CA's The New Catastrophes have released their new album, Weather The Storm, via streaming platforms, as a free…
Last week, the Massachusetts hardcore natives in Defeater began the recording process for their second full-length album. The album, which is yet-to-be-titled, promises to embody the band’s avant-garde take on hardcore while following the conceptual format of the band’s two previous releases: 2008’s Travels and 2009’s Lost Ground EP.
The band is set to record next month at Getaway Recording Studio in Wakefield, MA, which is owned by Defeater’s guitarist Jay Maas. Maas, who has recorded the likes of Bane, Cruel Hand and Soul Control, said of recording the album:
“The scope of this record is likely the biggest undertaking I’ve done for any band I’ve engineered. The combination of being in Defeater and recording Defeater is great – I feel like my talents as an engineer have developed to a very professional place.”
The album is set to drop in early 2011 on Bridge Nine Records and “…will incorporate themes and characters that the listener has been introduced to already, in addition to bringing some new stuff into the mix“, said vocalist Derek Archambault.
