Boston’s Dropkick Murphys have announced two hometown shows in September at Boston’s Fenway Park (home of the Red Sox). The band will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund as well as their own The Claddagh Fund. The fund helps support families of victims of 9/11 throughout the state. The Might Mighty Bosstones will support the celtic punks as special guests.
Frontman Ken Casey commented:
“We feel honored and privileged to share a connection and friendship with the Boston Red Sox. Our involvement in the 2004 and 2007 championship seasons are some of the greatest highlights of our career and our lives. But to be invited by the Sox to join the select few who have performed full concerts at the park is truly a dream come true!”
The shows are scheduled for September 8 & 9 pending city approval. Ticket information will be available July 7, 2011 at noon (ET) on the Red Sox homepage.
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are currently in the studio working on a new album which they expect to release by Winter 2011.
