The Dropkick Murphys have announced the details regarding their seventh full length album. This newest offering will be titled Going Out In Style, and is set for a Match 11, 2011 release date on the band’s own Born & Bred Records (Independent Label Group). For the new album the group brought in Ted Hutt for producing duties, and has even secured a guest vocal spot by the legendary Bruce Springsteen on the track “Peg O’ My Heart,” as well as appearances by NOFX’s Fat Mike, and The Living End’s Chris Cheney.
The forty-five minute album spans thirteen tracks that follow the fictional character Cornelius Larkin in a tale of folklore based loosely on the band’s collective experiences. Vocalist Ken Casey elaborates:
“I wrote an outline which began leading to songs. At the same time, I wanted the obituary to have that author’s flair, a little more description, a more detailed narrative, and a deeper story. Michael listened to the songs we’d written, and he fleshed out the story and really put a name and a face on the character. It’s a new approach and a unique partnership, especially in this day and age. The songs inspire the story, and the story inspires the songs. It’s a deep record, and it celebrates a life.”
The band is also scheduled to head out for a lengthy supporting tour in the coming months across the US in February and March, and hopping the Atlantic for some dates in April. Track listing and tour dates can be found below.
