DZ Deathrays have revealed the video for Kerosene, the final single to be taken from their highly anticipated fifth studio album, Positive Rising: Part 2, that will be released tomorrow, Friday 9th July, via Alcopop! Records. With a video once more directed by Joe Agius, Kerosene is a darker, moodier offering from the band that revolves around a compelling chord progression, rather than their signature riffs. Stemming from an idea that was sparked during a writing session with Aussie electronic duo The PresetsKim Moyes (the beat you hear at the start of the track is from a demo made that day), it’s no surprise Kerosene is a stadium ready anthem.

Although separated by recent border closures and city lockdowns, to celebrate the release of Positive Rising: Part 2 the band are hosting a Positive Rising Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at Brisbane’s Cannon Hill Bunnings on Sunday 11th July to raise money for the incredible Support Act: an organisation that continues to be the backbone of Australia’s music industry, supporting arts workers through free counselling, crisis relief funding and COVID-19 grants during what continues to be one of the hardest times for artists, crew and music workers in recent years.

“‘Kerosene’ is all about this idea that we tend to spend so much time looking at other people and their lives and letting that dictate the trajectory of our own. Leaning into the ‘grass is always greener on the other side’ thing. Then the chorus flips around to say that you can be there waiting for others to figure out what they want to do, but just be ready to take on your own path when the time is right.” (vocalist and guitarist Shane Parsons)
