Montreal’s Guilhem has released the new single, Hangover Cure, that is taken from his upcoming deeply personal and emotionally charged new album, A Good One, that was mixed and mastered by Frank Turner and is due out on September 5th.
“This song explores the different ways to overcome a hangover in some sort of quest for self-improvement. It’s about inadequacy and self-destructive behavior, but it also expresses a hopeful, yet uncertain, desire for a better future. I’ve been dreaming of making a video with a spinning camera for a while now. I’ve been shooting my own videos for a few years, but I never quite figured out how to pull it off, so I reached out to my friend Alex Charron for help. He was immediately down to have some fun with the idea. We shot it in about an hour, maybe an hour and a half, and then he took care of the editing. At first, I wanted the camera to spin the entire time, but Alex wisely pointed out that people would probably want to throw up after 15 seconds. He was absolutely right. I’m really happy with how it turned out: simple, easy, and visually super cool.”
