Lyon, France’s Johnnie Carwash, the cutest of the dirty brats, have released their new album, No Friends No Pain, through Howlin’ Banana Records. A sparkling album captured on the spot, reflecting all aspects of their life during their first years of touring. Everything’s in there, from the excess of I’m A Mess, to the euphoria of What A Life or the never ending depression in Aha (It’s OK), and as the title advertises, friendship playing a key role, either growing, or dying.
Recorded live in Studio Vega between tours, No Friends No Pain is in essence a call to self-affirmation, the band showing at the same time affectivity, effectiveness and a wild attitude. It’s an album full of raw honesty, joyful agitation and it’s imperfections are just a reminder that rock is alive and well, vibrant and thrilling. While playing faster, louder and higher, the trio also exhibits a love for songwriting with heartfelt lyrics, ranging from epic to introspective, adding renewed depth and density to their songs. No Friends No Pain is an album full of life and energy.
