With a pop-infused flair that puts a refreshing twist on punk, Knives have released the highly anticipated What We See In Their Eyes EP. Inspired by their frustration with individuals in Bristol who challenge the city’s friendly reputation, What We See In Their Eyes serves as a musical mirror, inviting listeners into the shoes of the frustrated. From addressing the ongoing challenge of homophobia and queerbaiting within the music industry, to delving into the core of punk and the accompanying hypocrisy, Knives implore listeners to stand alongside them in confronting those they oppose.
“The EP as a whole, the title “What We See In Their Eyes” is a reflection of the emotions we’ve felt when looking at or speaking to the people that we’ve written these songs about. The lyrics are meant to place the listener in these shoes, looking at someone you despise in the face and thinking about what you wish you could say to them.”
Driven by powerful basslines, gritty riffing and vocalist Jay Schottlander‘s unique, venomous shouts reminiscent of a punk town crier, What We See In Their Eyes amalgamates elements of post-punk, hardcore, rap and noise into an electrifying blend that sparks mosh-pit inducing euphoria. What We See In Their Eyes is now available across all major streaming platforms and Knives are kicking off their tour in London’s Waiting Rooms tonight before heading to Bristol and Manchester.
