Kunt & The Gang Launch “Shannon Matthews The Musical – The Movie” Kickstarter & Announce Xmas Single

Following their sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe, Essex comedy songwriter Kunt And The Gang / The Kunts are once again teaming up with Yorkshire theatre company Tuppence Ha’penny Theatre Company to produce Shannon Matthews: The Musical – The Movie. The team are independently funding the film through crowdfunding site Kickstarter. Shannon Matthews: The Musical divided opinions even before its run at the Edinburgh Fringe, getting cancelled from The Library venue in Leeds and Edinburgh’s Space Venues, before moving to Just The Tonic comedy for its sell-out run.

Kunt and the Gang is the songwriter behind Essex punk band The Kunts, best known for the top 20 hits Boris Johnson is a Fucking Cunt, Boris Johnson is STILL a Fucking Cunt and Prince Andrew Is A Sweaty Nonce. Following the events of the last week, where it appears to any bystander as if Liz Truss and Kwasi Kwarteng are stuffing cash into their rich mates’ pockets while crashing and burning everyone else’s lives, The Kunts have also thrown their hat in early to the race for this year’s official Christmas Number One with a brand new song, Fuck The Tories. The Kunts have also revealed that they will also be on tour in the UK this December with Petrol Bastard supporting.

Shannon Matthews: The Musical – The Movie reached its funding target of £10.000 in less than 24 hours, and before The Punk Site even got to tell anyone about it. Rewards that have been snapped up by eager supporters include Executive Producer credits, the chance to be on camera as an extra, copies of the script and Have You Seen Shannon Matthews: The Musical T-shirts. Any further funds that come in before the crowdfunding campaign’s closing date of October 21st will go towards further funding the production and a glitzy premiere for supporters to attend.
