European punk and hardcore record label Lockjaw Records are proud to announce that on September 24th they will be releasing a charity compilation album containing over 35 tracks from the punk scene and beyond. The aim of the compilation is to shine a spotlight on bands with members of colour, and aims to raise funds for Black Minds Matter Charity (UK) and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (US) to help battle racism and inequality. The compilation will be available to download or stream via your favourite digital service. You can also get a free download code with a purchase of a screen-printed poster or t-shirt via Lockjaw Records.

“After the murder of George Floyd we participated in Black Out Tuesday, and since then we’ve been having meetings to discuss what we could do within our sphere and scene to address the issues of structural racism and representation. The punk and hardcore scene is really white. We felt the best way to address the issue of representation was to create a compilation that features tracks from people of colour within the punk genre, and tracks from outside the genre that have a ‘punk attitude’ & energy. We need to look outside of our scene and we can hopefully find some commonalities which we can enjoy and celebrate. And of course, we’ve got some great tracks from bands within the scene dealing with themes of anti-racism and social justice.” (label manager Lesley-Anne O’Brien)
