Mixtapes has officially opened their “song shop,” which will allow fans to buy a custom written song for the low price of $10.00. Ryans explains how the shop, which started as a joke, came to be:
“This idea started as a joke not even making fun of anything just because of the idea of it. Max Bemis of Say Anything has a song shop where you can buy a song from him and he will give you a phone call. I think that’s cool although some people think it’s not, but honestly it’s better than a kick starter or anything. He’s not asking for anything and there’s no obligation, and if Craig Finn from the hold steady would write me a song I’m just saying I’d give him $150 easily. But I digress, so I jokingly said on our facebook page that for $10 I would write you a song about whatever you wanted and I would have one of my friends call you. People seemed into it and I think it would be extremely fun and hilarious.”
The band will be recording new material over the winter. The shop can be found here.
