Getting Dumber Drop New Single & Video “A Love So Little”
Perth clock-rockers Getting Dumber are back with a fresh wad of chewed up 'n' spat out bubblegum punk! Recorded, mixed and mastered…
Atlantan 5-piece Muelas have today delivered an uncompromising heavy testament to resilience in the face of adversity with their debut EP, Bellow, that is available through streaming platforms and on vinyl via Second Engine Records (US) and Best Life Records (UK). Through the EP’s five songs an emotional snapshot of the past few years is presented as singer and violinist Susy Reyes releases what’s been burning deep within her for far too long. The daily shock and horror of being a young Mexican-American watching the age of ICE tear apart your community, the unease of being queer in the south as basic rights are stripped back across the nation, the impotence of watching those in power turn a blind eye to the ongoing crimes of the right.
Reyes’ Latin heritage leaves an indelible sonic imprint on Muelas as her love of the southern hardcore scene collides with the influence of her experience as a long-time mariachi performer. The result is a unique sound palette that carries the dissonance of post-hardcore, the emotional sensitivity of traditional Mexican ballads, and the bruising energy of punk. Muelas will also be playing a special hometown release show later today at Atlanta’s The Goat Farm Arts Center with support from Playytime, Squeamish and Cheerleader, you can grab tickets here.
“I wanted to be in a band where I could scream about my feelings, let all of my sadness and rage out. As a proud child of Mexican Immigrants, I have a lot to say. My lyrics are political because my existence is political. I can’t escape it.. I refuse to be silent and I hope I can provide at least a moment where people can also let out their anguish.” (Susy Reyes)
