O Pioneers!!! have announced that the long running punk rock band will be calling it quits after one final tour with labelmates New Bruises. Frontman Eric Solomon elaborates on the decision:
O Pioneers!!! was a band that should have ended a long time ago. I started this band in the fall of 2004, and it’s slowly changed and migrated into what it is today, based off of the millions of people that have been in this band. I got tired of trying to con people into playing songs that they liked, or may have been a fan of, but ultimately they didn’t have a connection with, besides something that was at face value. This was my first band, and I’d like to remember it as such. I’m super excited and proud of everything I’ve been able to do with this band, and even more excited and honored by the people I’ve met playing in this band. But I feel that at this time it’s better to try and start over, instead of trying to force something that I feel has been over for a little while now. The future of music in my life is really exciting right now, and I couldn’t be happier with how OP!!! is ending, and for what projects we’ll be starting next year. Big thanks to a million people, but especially everyone who has been in this band at one point (all 30,000 of you), and all close friends and family (you know who you are).
