Pile Of Love is a new band made up of members of Drug Church, State Champs and The Story So Far, and today they’ve announced their existence with the surprise release of a self-titled debut full-length. The Los Angeles based five piece formed in 2020 when the members’ full-time touring bands were brought to a halt. The musicians’ plans may have been put on hold, but not their creativity. Pile Of Love began as a means of making something out of the challenging circumstances, the result is an album of warm guitar pop that sounds as feel-good as its humble intent, drawing on the best of sunny ’90s alternative to make something new.

Pile of Love is the sum of its many talented players: guitarist Nick Cogan (Drug Church), drummer Chris Villeneuve (Drug Church), bassist Kevin Geyer (The Story So Far), guitarist Ryan Graham (State Champs) and vocalist Morgan Foster (Mobin’s Child). The album was recorded by David Michael Craver and Jimmy Dixon at Kingsize Soundlabs in LA, and then mixed and mastered by Alex Salter and John Markson. Pile Of Love is a blast of shiny hooks and crunchy guitars. The record blends pop rock immediacy, off-kilter indie quirks and a even a touch of shoegaze textures to form a sound that’s instantly satisfying.
