Ahead of this year’s Rebellion Festival we’ll be asking a selection of the band’s who are appearing about what we can expect, and for their advice on surviving the four day festival. In the fifth of The Punk Site‘s Rebellion Festival previews we ask Kid Klumsy to provide their insights into the festival. Kid Klumsy have returned from the wilderness after a lengthy absence, they released the Spit Your Dummy Out EP via STP Records earlier this year, a release that represented their first new recorded material in fourteen years. The Rebellion Festival will be taking place at Blackpool Winter Gardens between the 2nd and 5th August 2018, you can purchase tickets and view the full line up for this years festival here

Is this your first experience of the Rebellion Festival or have you played before?
No no its Kid Klumsy’s first time and we’re all super hyped about playing the iconic festival.
What can we look forward to from your set?
A rubber chicken making its return, loads of chaos, big singalongs and Ali doing the worm.
What makes the Rebellion Festival special for you ?
It’s all about the atmosphere, one big party and meeting like minded people from all over the world. It’s great !
Will you have the chance to catch anyone else whilst you’re there and is there anyone else on the bill you’d recommend people go and see?
If I’m honest I’ll be spending most of my time in the Introducing Stage. Some amazing bands are playing it and I like the freshness of new music rather than the old classics . Wow so many to mention …. The Liarbilities will destroy the place, Spring Park is a must, Kiss Me Killer, Pretty Addicted, Chaos 8, way too many to mention. Oooh Ginger’s acoustic set and The Wildhearts, won’t be missing that.
If you could pick one band to appear at the Rebellion Festival who would it be?
Again so many! I’d like to see The Levellers or The Wonder Stuff, folk rock punk style music, great music to dance to, or Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys if there was the budget.
Do you have a favourite memory from a previous Rebellion Festival?
Rebellion’s always been so good to me (with Dirtbox Disco), I’ve left the stage in tears before as the shows been so overwhelming. Each time I walk through the iconic doors you know it’s going to be special.
Are you currently on tour if so where else are you playing this year?
We’re doing some Spit Your Dummy Out shows which are going really well, we’re still building our following but we’re getting great reviews and comments and most importantly enjoying things. More shows, festivals and tours coming soon. x
What can we look forward to from you in the next twelve months?
Our new EP will be out at the beginning of next year, support slots with The Members, Anti Nowhere League and more to be confirmed, festival slots, another Abuse Your Confusion tour, a German mini tour and something very exciting if it happens next year, just loads of exciting things to keep us busy and almost out of trouble.
Do you have any festival survival tips?
Always say hi to Ali, don’t drink with Fatwig and always wear clean underwear in case an ambulance runs you over.
Is there anything else in Blackpool you’d recommend people experience whilst they’re in the town?
I’ll be mostly doing the glow in the dark crazy golf, its a must, lots of fun. Bingo, so underrated, camel racing in the arcades, the buskers are pretty awesome around there and Blackpool is amazing for people watching ha ha.
Finally when and where are you appearing?
Thursday 2nd August at 4 .15 on the Introducing Stage, see ya there!!
Thanks for taking the time to speak to us, we’ll see you down the front
Lots of love and respect for asking me to do this. Without the great support you give to up and coming acts the scene wouldn’t survive, so thanks. x
