Ahead of this year’s Rebellion Festival we’re asking a selection of the band’s who are appearing about what we can expect, and for their advice on surviving the four day festival. In the 15th of The Punk Site‘s Rebellion Festival previews we feature Millie Sanders And The Shutup, a band who play cross-genre punk that is hard to ignore. With lyricism that pokes fun, draws you in or leaves you questioning social norms teamed with incredible vocal dexterity, grinding guitars, irresistible horn hooks and a pumping rhythm section, Millie Sanders And The Shutup churn out more raw punk fusion than you can shake a stick at. You can read about what to expect from Millie Sanders And The Shutup at this year’s Rebellion Festival below

Is this your first experience of the Rebellion Festival or have you played before?

We played last year on the Rebellion Introducing Stage. It was mad. Absolutely mentally wonderful.

What can we look forward to from your set?

We will be playing our new EP in full (Out late September)… Lots of bouncing, screaming, jumping, riffing, saxamaphoning and fun times.

What makes the Rebellion Festival special for you?

Everyone you meet is lovely. Its a massive community and you are instantly welcomed into it.

Will you have the chance to catch anyone else whilst you’re there and is there anyone else on the bill you’d recommend people go and see?

I’ll probably mostly be at the introducing stage. The Splash, Call Me Malcolm, Burnt Tapes, Murder Burgers and a tonne more awesome unsigned and underrated bands are appearing on that stage over the weekend and I highly recommend people go check them out.

If you could pick one band to appear at the Rebellion Festival who would it be?

Riskee and The Ridicule. It’s mental they haven’t been on the lineup yet!!

Do you have a favourite memory from a previous Rebellion Festival?

I’ve only been once and it’s got to be people actually filling the room when we expected no one to even know or give a care who we are. It was simply awesome.

Are you currently on tour if so where else are you playing this year?

We have I think about 30 dates booked at the moment up to the end of the year. We will be all over the UK and we are heading to Belgium for our first ever gig there too!

What can we look forward to from you in the next twelve months?

A new EP, a load of music videos, shed loads of tour dates, more new songs and hopefully some more venturing outside of the UK!

Do you have any festival survival tips?

Stay hydrated no matter what you do/how much you drink. Take a chance on some new bands. You might regret it later if you don’t.

Is there anything else in Blackpool you’d recommend people experience whilst they’re in the town?

Apparently there are some seriously good vegan food spots. We will be checking those out for sure! If you’re ever about when Rebellion isn’t on check out the Waterloo – it’s an awesome live music venue.

Finally when and where are you appearing?

Friday 3rd August 1:30pm, Empress Ballroom (Full band) and 9:40pm, Almost Acoustic (Millie, solo)

Thanks for taking the time to speak to us, we’ll see you down the front
