Stratejacket have released their debut full length, Bad Start, via Edgeout Records, the album was recorded at Vancouver’s Armoury Studios with producer Brian Howes and engineer Chris Lord-Alge. Bad Start overflows with dark humor and contain the sort of electric energy that has charged the Bay Area’s punk and alternative scenes for decades. StrateJacket will also be hitting the road in support of the album alongside Ten Years for a handful of dates along the West Coast of the US from October 12th.
StrateJacket formed in Sunnyvale, CA in 2019 and managed to play one gig before Covid-19 swept the planet, they used the isolation to hone their fast and energetic sound that is influenced by punk and alternative bands spanning across the ’90s to ’10s. They eventually played their first shows with a guerilla approach to gigging, driving all over San Francisco to play under bridges, on beaches and in warehouse and have since gone on to play the likes of SXSW, Welcome to Rockville and KIWR’s Summer Bash where they opened for The Offspring. Maybe they didn’t get such a Bad Start after all.
