Tetchy Return With New Single “Married”

Tetchy have released their new single, Married, that is out today via Trash Casual Records, the single marks their first ‘full-band’ release since 2021, and it picks up right where they left off. Expert musicianship from the band, coupled with lead singer Maggie Denning‘s brutally uncensored lyrics that bounce between soft singing and eviscerating screams, both of which showcase the best of what Tetchy has to offer.

In some ways, it’s helpful to conceptualize Tetchy‘s music not so much as creating a sound, as creating a place. A place to radically feel. Somewhere that trauma is laid bare, smashed to pieces and then reconstructed through audacious freedom and unabashed pleasure. Perhaps the defining aspect of the burgeoning Tetchy lore is that vocalist and guitarist Maggie Denning is, in her own words, “someone who has very big feelings”. From the band’s earliest releases, her songs have been repositories of visceral emotion; from unshakeable heartbreak and soul-crushing grief to delirious joy and brazen lust.

“‘Married’ was a rage dump about a specific situation, but morphed into being this sort of scathing look at mindless heteronormativity. It felt like everyone around me was jumping into these cozy little gender roles without a second thought— like they were abandoning any kind of work they were doing on themselves to go get really comfy, and to perform an ending for a character arc that they had zero hand in writing.
