The seeds of The Duel were sown when vocalist Tara Rez met keyboardist Andy Thierum, both turning their lives upside down to forge a creative union. The pair worked on writing a wealth of songs and their first show as The Duel came in 2001 in London as support to the Dead Kennedys. Going on over the years to extensively tour the UK and Europe as well as the US. Sharing stages with legends UK Subs, The Slits, Vice Squad, Angie Bowie, Buzzcocks, Peter Hook, Sham 69, The Vibrators and Angelic Upstarts to name just a few.

The Soundtrack to The End of The World (The Zak Splash Story) is a concept album, featuring Max Splodge from Splodgenessabounds on narration duties. Zak Splash being a fictional artist from the 70’s who has a comeback hit in this millennium. Originally written in 2012, now remastered, reworked and remixed, The Duel had been on a high until tragically in 2014 Andy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis curtailing the band. There is no cure for MS, however this re-release gives an opportunity to raise further awareness and help people understand what life with MS can be like and proceeds from this release will go to the MS Society.

The 2022 version of The Duel also has live shows confirmed, including an appearance at Unity Fest in Corby, and are aiming to provide a fitting finale for a band whose career was ended prematurely.
