Florida werewolf punks Wolf-Face go full-on Spike Jonze in their new music video that shows what it’s like to experience sleep paralysis, and the monster that comes with it. The music video for Howl Alone captures what it is like to experience sleep paralysis through a Spike Jonze lens. It follows a lonely young man (Ryan Metcalf) back to his apartment as he tries to unwind for the night, but he keeps waking to a monster in his room. At the climax of the song the lights flip on to reveal the monster is actually party animal Michael J. Wolf and he is ready to howl!
“Sleep Paralysis is a temporary inability to move or speak while falling asleep or upon waking, and is often accompanied by the vision of a shadowy supernatural creature. The condition has been described throughout history, and the frightening figure has been given many names by different cultures. Episodes usually last one or two minutes and are often quite frightening, particularly the common visualization of a dark entity towering nearby.“
Howl Alone is taken from the band’s 2020 album, Still Golden, that is available through Bandcamp and streaming platforms and on vinyl via Gunner Records in Europe and Say-10 Records in the US.
