After kicking off 2021 with a bang, Y!kes return with the stripped back, lo-fi masterpiece, General Practice, the song follows a journey of a life on medication and the implications it can cause both mentally and physically. Follow Y!kes as they tap into their more somber, wistful side throughout the song, floating effortlessly between relaxed, psychedelic verses and anthemic, atmospheric choruses. When asked about the subject of the song, vocalist Oli Long said “It’s a hard thing to talk about sometimes, but a struggle that hits home for many. We aimed to show the fragile side with an honest, chilling but uplifting rock song that welcomes you with open arms.”
The band teamed up again with esteemed film-maker Zak Taylor, with the visual elements helping cement the dysphoria and unease that one can sometimes feel throughout difficult times. The video features artist & professional rugby union player Levi Davis and Chloe Ozwell from Sister Shotgun, helping portray the message behind the song. General Practice is the final single from their upcoming EP, Lostalgia, that will be released on the 13th August 2021, Y!kes have also announced a run of Summer & Autumn UK tour dates.
