Electric Potential - Self Released
Cherry & Peesh is a collaboration of two great friends who both have had long standing careers in the music/art business over a number of years. Cherry B has been peddling her own brand of Punk Poetry around the scene for a long time with great success and has shared the stage with so many greats including the truly legendary John Cooper Clarke, Peesh on the other hand has been one of the hardest working singer song writers in the North East of England with his current band LoGOz and previous bands like The Blisters, oh and a full and varied solo career to boot.
This album stands out as being a culmination of all the long days and nights spent rehearsing, touring and playing together all over the country including 2 spots at rebellion in consecutive years and a 3rd in the offing.
In previous offerings of their blend of Punk Poetry and Music (Punk n Roll), they stuck to the acoustic format that gave them a breakthrough into the gig scene and a few EP’s to boot, but with Electric Potential this has all now been lifted to another level.
Maybe this is a long awaited guide to navigate a world full of its problems and foibles, with a small dose of tongue in cheek and some full on straight talking poetic realities.
Let’s see if we can pick the bones of this amazing shot of personal thoughts and fears. So we have a “Punk Mum” who has seen it all before, learning how to bring up her offspring in an ever growing “PC World” trying her utmost not to come across as the old “Twat” struggling to keep up with the times.
Been given an opportunity by “DRS” to play at the worlds largest punk festival was a door that opened and gave them the chance to not drop into the “B-Movie” mentality, but instead gave them the chance to play their “Trump Card” and show the Americans how following this path could take them down the “Road To Rebellion”.
This all said we are then given some wonderful straight up stories of how the “Empty Windows” of a “Brainwashed” mind would be the push that set a world of anarchy in motion and spurned a generation which embraced “Nevermind The Pistols” and take us full circle to where the “Yesterday Kids” are now the Punk Mums and Dads of today and are still fighting back.
If you want something that has its own sense of life, does something that has gone before but in a fresh way, that says it in a way that only Cherry & Peesh can, this album has it all.
