David Delinquent Releases “Scared To Spend” EP
Dundee’s David Delinquent (The Delinquents / David Delinquent & The IOU’s / Football, Beer & Punk Rock Podcast) has self released a brand new EP, Scared…
Off The Rails - Big Neck Records
So Gino & The Goons. A Punk Rock Garage Rock n Roll band out of Tampa Florida, having been together since 2007 they seem to be made up of founder member Gino Bambino (sounds punk rock mafia doesn’t it) and anyone they can grab hold of to get down and dirty with them at any given time, a fluid line up of like minded souls seems to be how this band keep the sound fresh.
This album is we believe their 5th, who’s counting? It feels like this is not a mission it’s a way of life. The album itself gives you nothing that hasn’t come before, it has all the thrash and bash of any other Goons recording, it never pretends to be anything other than a band playing loud and live, when we say live we mean live wired and full of the energy and loving what your doing. Talking about the live, the production or maybe even lack of it, you feel like there has been input but then maybe there hasn’t, if you were to walk in on a Goons rehearsal and it would have to be in the garage, this is what you might expect to hear, straight to the point, no messing around in your face rock n roll, rough around the edges and played at you in a way that screams come in and to hell with damnation.
Each of the songs, none of which manage to last not much longer than 3 mins at most, are delivered with timing that always feels like it’s on the edge of falling apart but has as much boogie and swagger as any MC5 gig could have packed in back in the day. So many comparisons could be levelled at the Goons as far as musical style and sound, to be honest they hold their own in an area that has so many peers, a fresh and down right up to date approach that still looks back at the same time is never a bad thing.
Taking a leaf out of the Goons book, this review should be just like the music, short to the point and never pretentious.
