Bedouin Soundclash

Sounding A Mosaic - SideOneDummy Records

There’s no denying the fact that Bedouin Soundclash‘s When The Night Feels My Song was the most surprising song on SideOneDummy‘s Atticus: Draggin’ The Lake 3 compilation back in February. The smooth closer gave the album the perfect ending it so desperately needed by pulling something way out of left field and throwing it in there unexpectedly. But now the question remains: will Bedouin Soundclash be able to make an entire album out of its reggae songs? That answer is complicated.

The album, Sounding A Mosaic, kicks off right where Atticus 3 ended with When The Night Feels My Song and it keeps the momentum going for the rest of the album. The fifteen song album makes you doubt that they are really from just outside of Toronto – it sounds like it would be better suited from a band coming from an island paradise like Jamaica or something.

Bedouin Soundclash is the perfect blend of soul and reggae. Jay Malinowski’s raspy vocals are unlike any in the punk scene today and could easily be compared to reggae legend Bob Marley flows perfectly with the band’s up tempo, bouncy melodies.

Sounding A Mosaic is a great reggae filled album. Any fans of Bob Marley and reggae in general will surely fall heads over heels over this as it will easily become their soundtrack to the summer. So roll a joint and blast it all night long. But for fans who don’t understand the whole reggae genre, or just don’t like it, then stick with When The Night Feels My Song on Atticus 3.

Other standout tracks are: Money WorriesShadow Of A Man and Immigrant Workers.
