Charity Burns Green - Lobster Records
Vineland, NJ’s Days Like These have finally graced us with their debut album on Lobster Records after having numerous pushbacks; and the eleven track album is ready to spin in any rock lover’s CD player.
The instrumentals on this album are spectacular. Just take a listen to the start of One In One Thousand and you’ll understand what I mean. All the instruments, from the drums to the guitars to the keyboard, all work together to form great musical masterpieces. They grab your attention and really pull you towards each track. Unfortunately, the vocals do not match up to the instrumentals. I believe that the vocals should be much stronger, more powerful, to go along with the melodies. Instead though, they are mellow and slow. It fits for an odd track here and there (its perfect for In Time); but for most of the tracks, they could use something more powerful and mind blowing. The vocals are too melodic and laid back for the musical portions, they should have jumped further and experimented a bit more.
Charity Burns Green is a nice album that you could come back to at anytime and you’ll have the same reaction to it. Its an easy listen and is enjoyable. The only down side is that they don’t try to attempt anything new to really grab your attention, but instead, they take the safe route.
