Funeral For A Friend

Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation - Warner Music

I never knew much by Funeral For A Friend. In fact, I knew nothing by them and nothing about them. The only piece of information I knew was their name; and that was simply because I heard it everywhere. My friends loved them, various new sites were constantly promoting them, wherever you looked, FFAF was mentioned; and always in good terms. But despite all the good press, I was still too damn lazy to check them out. So I never had the chance to discover one of the best emo/hard rock bands of our time, until now.

Their newest album, Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation, was released some 5 to 6 months ago and has just now found it’s way into my discman. The 12 emotional filled tracks flow through your speakers flawlessly. The instrumentals are so melodically powerful that they never get overwhelming or repetitive no matter how long they last; and they do go for quite some time at certain moments during the album. Matt Davies’ heartfelt vocals are perfect. Going exactly in tune with the instrumentals, his vocals are nearly seamless and get caught in your head instantly. Although, at times the screaming portions do become over bearing and destructive to the flow of the music; but luckily there is only a very small amount of screaming vocals.

Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversations is an essential addition to the collection of today’s emo loving youth. So give it a listen, even if you are like me and are running a couple months behind.
