Sending a short four song EP by Gratitude to reviewers a few months back was a move of pure genius. The songs, which fans could stream online at various sites, quickly got the press working, and soon everywhere you looked you say the name Gratitude. The EP was a breath of fresh air in a saturated scene, and everybody was sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting to find out when the band’s official debut full length will actually be released.
Well that time has come.
Gratitude are finally ready to grace the world with their twelve song debut, and it easily lives up to all the hype you’ve heard about them. Deviating from their four songs on the You’re Invited EP, Gratitudehave a few much slower and softer songs on here. Songs like Sadie, If Ever, and Someone To Love catch you off guard with its slow moving melody and soothing vocal harmonies, but still, they fit and flow nicely within the constraints of the album. Their harder hitting songs like This Is The Part and Drive Away make help make the album upbeat and energizing, but the slower ones help make the album complete.
Gratitude are easily on their way to becoming a rock ‘n’ roll super group as you can’t help but fall in love with their catchy pop-rock songs lead by Jonah Matranga. Matranga’s vocals are constantly solid and powerful, with a nice raw feel to them which is unlike any other vocalist on the scene today. You’ve been waiting for months to get the band’s full length, and now you can’t; and when you do, you won’t be disappointed.
