Getting Dumber Drop New Single & Video “A Love So Little”
Perth clock-rockers Getting Dumber are back with a fresh wad of chewed up 'n' spat out bubblegum punk! Recorded, mixed and mastered…
Heathersett - 59 X Records
Atlanta indie-punk quartet Heathersett who have only been around for a very short time, have released a few singles and are now extending that to a semi album, I find it difficult to call a seven track offering a full length, but then it’s not quite an EP, so welcome to the new world of semi albums readers.

Thinking of a punk band from Atlanta is actually not as easy as I thought it should be, The Coathangers, Gringo Star and Material Girls are the only bands that have excited me over the years, so getting a new addition to this role call is what I was hoping for when this semi album hit my ears.
‘Wick To Handle’ came out fighting first, a song that hits the rails like a well ridden Moose skateboard, fun of energy and reliability, this is fully backed up by ‘Anchorage’ which is the first track to see daylight as a single release, as pure a rock pop song as you might hear, nothing that will have you reaching for the stars, yet worthy of your time.
‘Jivin & Cryin’ hangs its emo heart out for all to see and then ‘Cowboy Killer’ shows us a little of what hopefully is still to come from this band, the stand out that you were waiting for, reminiscent of Angels & Airwaves in stature, this track is a powerful reminder that simplicity of sound and lyric can make such a huge impact, not to say that this is as simplistic as it sounds, but that’s the key to a great song.
There’s plenty of variation throughout this offering, the need to show how Heathersett are not just a one trick pony comes through so well, banging on the door of rock, crashing down the barrier between emo and punk, all with a sense of being a band who need to make their own way in the world. The final two tracks go a long way to show this, ‘Televisions’ has a splash of rock, a slice of indie and with its power pop credentials draped all over it, there’s no doubt this could be the next single offering, then the end comes bowling in, in the shape of ‘Love Along’ another epic anthemic piece of raw energy.
So how to sum all this up, a semi full review for a semi album would be a the obvious route.
Heathersett give you within this self titled album, a whole lot of pop that’s rocketed up the ass with some powerful rock/emo/punk.
