Enter With A Bullet - Fueled By Ramen Records

Fueled By Ramen Records have found made an amazing addition to their line up with Kissing Chaos. I have here in my hands, the bands debut release, a CD/EP, entitled: Enter With A Bullet. This Austin, Texas band has an incredible hardcore punk rock sound. If you are a fan of any bands like Finch, Thrice or Thursday then you will just love this band. Unfortunately, this 5 song EP is incredibly short, only lasting approximately 15 minutes, but don’t let that discourage you. The songs are fantastic with a mix of yelling, smooth singing and an amazing mix of beats. Opening with Lost Evidence, right away you get a feel for this band. After a 20 second introduction you hear a faint scream of “1,2,3,4!” and then KC heads into the song. The song has a steady beat with smooth vocals, with a couple bursts of screaming lyrics through out. The song is relaxing, and ends with a sort of violin sound that gets softer and softer. Quite frankly, it is an amazing way to introduce this new band to a new fan.

The second song is the CD-titled one, Enter With A Bullet. It starts off with a sort of high pitch banging noise and then introduces a heavy drum beat for a while. The bass and guitar join in to round off the introduction. The vocals commence with a yelling verse and then the song goes into the softer chorus with an complicated bass riff in the background.  Then another verse comes by and after that it has a great combo of guitars, bass and drums for around a minute before the final verse comes in, and then the song ends off with a great spiraling down drum beat and ending with one final blast. The song right smack in the middle, Communication Discontent is a much smoother song then the previous. It, of course, is about bad communication. Once again, the song is full to the rim off great hardcore punk beats, and cool melodic vocals join in to make one hell of a song.

The fourth song is my favorite; it is called In The Tradition Of Betrayal. What caught my attention right away (and will most likely catch yours), is that the chorus (which is the first piece of vocals which you hear). Has one of the members singing while another yells the same behind it. During the entire song this is a terrific blend of voices and vocals, and once again some screaming that adds to the power of this song. This song truly displays the amount of talent this band has and can use. It is just simply amazing and the best song on this EP.

The final song is my second favorite. Although a lot harder then the previous, The Power And Intent starts off with a sort of dial tone noise, and then comes in the screaming vocals. After around 1 minute, it slows down and has an amazing bass tune and the vocals mellow down a bit and get stuck in your mind right. “This is not a test, this is how it ends, taking innocents, ending with this trend”. Then the creaming vocals start off again without missing a beat. The song ends a bit weird, with a type of screeching, scratchy noise. Other then that, it is a fantastic song to end the EP off.

Overall, I really liked this CD/EP, and I think it will be talked about for quite a while, and I hope I see more from these guys in the near future. I do suggest you get it if you get the chance!
