Mad Caddies – Just One More

The Californian natives called Mad Caddies are back here to blow your mind with their newest release, Just One More. The album was just as good as I expected. Although it starts off with a slight tumble, they pick it up and rocked my socks off with the album.

As I mentioned, they open the album in a really bad way. The debut song, Drinking For 11 is a song I would not expect these guys to play. It is a very very slow song, with now real up-driving beat. When I first heard it, I was incredibly disappointed and was not really looking forward to the rest of the album, but I soon changed my mind. Contraband picks up the beat on track 2, once again it’s not a song like mostMad Caddies songs, it is a more fast paced and harder song. It is a good song, and soon makes you forget about the previous song.

Track 4, Silence is a song that I expect to hear when I hear the name, Mad Caddies. It starts off with a great horn selection and keeps up another very fast pace (sorta like Contraband). The cd-named track,Just One More has another unique sound, a slight Mexican feel to it. The song slows the pace down with a slightly slower tune, and a mariachi feel. It even has some Spanish vocals in it!

Tracks 7 and 8 are my favorite songs, and are strategically placed in the middle so that you have the need to listen to the rest of the album to find out what other amazing songs it will dish out to you. Leaving(track 7) was originally released on the recent Fat Wreck Chords compilation, Uncontrollable Fatulence. It comes blasting in with some major trumpet usage by this amazing Ska band. The song has a great jumpy tune and amazing mix of sounds combine together to produce one incredible sounding ska song. It is fast paced and has great lyrics. It is about a guy wanting to leave and doing it finally and basically just living life to the fullest and having some fun. It is just a spectacular song. Rockupation is track 8. The song is a slightly slower song with another great combination of drums, bass, guitar and a horn selection.  The vocals are catchy, and the tune is jumpy and goes exactly with the vocals.

Good Intentions (track 13) is another good song of the 15 track album. It has a good use of the horn selections once again during the right time sections. The vocals are slow and steady, pretty easy to catch on to. Game Show is the last track on this CD. It is a good old fashion ska song with a powerful use of horns, guitars and drums. The beat is jumpy and energetic and a really good song to end the album with.
