Single Review: Glue Ear – Skate Pizza!??

Glue Ear are launching themselves in 2019, they released the seven track Curl One Out EP in January and they are now set to follow this up with a band new single, Skate Pizza!??. Their latest release is a good old fashioned two track single that defies convention as neither of the singles two tracks, Hoax and Mr. Plastic, mention either skating or pizza. Skate Pizza!?? is set for release today and is now available on CD and digital formats via Horn & Hoof Records.

The A Side, if there is a such a thing on a digital release, is Hoax, the opening track is powered along by a riff that is comes straight out of the UK82 scene, as a result it’s an absolute blast of old school punk rock that borders on hardcore. Hoax is followed up by Mr. Plastic, a frantic slab of skacore that takes a different route to it’s counterpart but carries the same influences and attitude. Skate Pizza!?? is a punk single exactly as it oughta be, two contrasting short, sharp tracks that leave you wanting to hear more from the band.

Skate Pizza!?? delivers two tracks that blast out in six minutes of DIY punk rock, the single seems sharper and more focused than the Curl One Out EP that surfaced just a few months ago. If you want an introduction to one the UK’s up and coming DIY punk outfits then Skate Pizza!?? is a damn fine place to start, Glue Ear, along with the likes of Pizzatramp, Hummer, Fair Do’s and Dead Objectives are keeping the original spirit and energy of the punk scene alive and well.
