Ain't Got No Damn Rock 'N Roll - Bomber Music

The Blue Carpet Band are back with their first new material since the release of their debut album “Rock ‘N Roll Carpet“, their brand new single ”Ain’t Got No Damn Rock ‘N Roll” will be released on the 11th October and marks their debut release for Bomber Music. Since the release of debut full length it has been a whirlwind year for the London based garage punk ‘n rollers, the winners of best new band at the 2019 Vive Le Rock Awards have been constantly tearing up stages across the country, and now with a new single under their collective belts it looks like The Blue Carpet Band are getting ready to launch themselves into 2020.

There is no A and B side on this slab of vinyl, Bomber Music advised me that ”Ain’t Got No Damn Rock ‘N Roll” has an A Side and Side 1, with the only the alphabet seeming to delegate which is the lead track on their single, one that contains two perfect examples of what The Blue Carpet Band have to offer. To say that the A Side ”Ain’t Got No Damn Rock ‘N Roll” is a deeply ironic title is an understatement, this is two perfect minutes of amped up rock ‘n roll that captures the spirit of The Sonics and MC5 and drags it kicking and screaming in 2019. The counterpart on Side 1 “Back In The Trash” takes the essence of the A Side and blends it with the Ramones, this is the kind of straight up 4/4 rock ‘n roll that Joan Jett in her prime would have killed for.

The Blue Carpet Band take everything about rock ‘n roll that your grandparents hated and breathe new life into it, gloriously dirty trashy goddam rock ‘n roll that is served up on seven inches of black wax. ”Ain’t Got No Damn Rock ‘N Roll” takes everything that you loved about their lo-fi fuzzy debut full length, but this time out the sound is louder, sharper and more focused, it also manages to capture the energy levels that The Blue Carpet Band put out live. Everything about ”Ain’t Got No Damn Rock ‘N Roll” is perfect, from the artwork to the primal A Side and the last fading chords of Side 1, in short this is the best single I’ve heard this year, buy, download or stream.
