Imbelica - Cadiz Music
Born in the US of A and fully embracing that sound, The Imbeciles have just released their second album Imbelica, after touring with Killing Joke and notably having Youth from said band playing bass on this album, they are understandably excited to share this breadth of work with the world.
I’d describe The Imbeciles music as Replacements thats been polished to within an inch of its life, a Tom Petty reincarnated into a modern day pop vein, or just punk thats fully grown up.

‘Tiny Blue People’ opens the album, and is possibly the rawest sounding of all the tracks, it has a New York Dolls kind of raucousness too it, plenty of guitar sexiness going on and a glam sensibility about it.
As you move through each song on from this album, its noticeable that the rock is heavily overlaid with nifty guitar licks and ear worm choruses, ‘I’m Not The One’ has this in spades, ‘Van Man’ lays on even more glam for your ears, then be prepared for a whole 6 mins plus of ‘I Won’t Let You Down’, with its use of 90’s synth mixed with a train along the track relentlessness smothered in pop melodies keeps you hooked and happy. What’s not lacking within the whole body of this work is a zest for life, taking and learning from what’s either going on or has been going on around you, ‘You’re Gonna Wanna’ zips along like a snazzy well dressed human being, it bounces around the room with the intent of not letting you go, then ‘Soldiers & Junkies’ snaps you back with its Brim Full Of Asher esque riff and a sense of dangerousness that lurks within the lyrics.
Having 2 songs that hold exclamations marks within the title, being ‘Let’s Go!’ & ‘Superstar!’ Is for all intensive purposes a given to end this huge Exclamation mark of an album, now this band have reached for the stars and actually snatched a few and thrown them right into your ears.
Beautiful crafted slices of rock/pop/glam that deserve your attention. This album is never going to fall off a cliff and smash into the rocks, more like it’ll bounce right back up again!
